i mean, i learned to ride a bike by myself...
i just never bothered to learn how to swim and i kind of regret it. i have access to a pool (even in the winter because it's indoor) but how would i teach myself? where would i start? i tried teaching myself. i tried the front crawl but i didn't really get anywhere. meaning, i stayed in one place. any tips? i don't really want to spend more money on private lessons because it's not my first priority if i had to spend a couple hundred bucks. |

interesting question. i think you could. maybe you could try googling basic swim techniques and the four (or five, including sidestroke) strokes - fly, back, breast, & free. look for diagrams or something. or get an instructional dvd. i'm sure it's been done before.
i myself have been taking swim lessons; i think learning from a professional is good, but it's all up to you. try your local community center, or the ymca. there's lots of options out there. or just, as you said, use the pool you have access to, and try finding instructional diagrams/dvds. good luck! |
