First of all, yes it's bad hiding stuff from your mom. Especially if you have a relationship eith her. For me, I don't have a relationship with my mom... it's just really annoying when she talks to me about anything in the world. Yes, very sad. I do hid stuff from her such as who I like and what I do. I just don't want her to know about my life and don't want to open up to her. But I do obey her like when she says I can't have a boyfriend or when she says I can't go anywhere. It's just a way I get respected, and how I give respect.
