stealing, jocking, theft, copyright infringement.
it's all been a pretty big problem here on createblog. tons of graphics and layouts have been created using images from sites such as photobucket (from random peoples' albums), deviantart, threadless, naked&angry, artists' websites, etc. all copyrighted material. material that is not stock material. and taking complete credit for it. and i don't really care if there is a thread already about this or if it was mentioned in another thread. because. well. i just don't feel like going through and responding with something that will never be read, bringing back a thread that is long dead, or simply watching people talk about it and not do anything. i think that while the admin and mods are doing their little "house cleaning", they should REALLY concentrate on removing submissions that contain stolen images. because this site should not condone these things. i also think that a field should be added to submission forms for credit giving. even if what someone used IS stock photography or otherwise free-to-use material, credit should be given. and i believe that if people were to see an entire space dedicated to giving such credit, they would tend to do it more. this website should be fair and follow copyright rules in all areas. because i've seen plenty of people complaining about other websites "jocking" from createblog. why not stop being hypocrites and set an example for such sites? |

What's wrong with people saying what they made is their own? I don't think anyone who submits something to cB (sadly to say) makes all the brushes/textures/patterns/etc. and takes all the photos themselves when using it on a layout. We just have to trust that people will tell the truth.
By leaving it optional, I doubt everyone would actually fill out that field. We already have people not following simple rules, like choosing the proper category or putting in tags. We just have to stress the fact that credit should be given for everything that is used. [Hmm. I should do that for all my past submissions.] |
