I don't know if this really goes in relationship, but it does deal with my parents, so I guess I do. Well, this might be longg...just so you are aware.
Okay, my two main goals in my life is dancing and acting. I've already made a topic about acting (which really helped), so...I guess I'll talk about dancing now. I've alwasy had a passion for dancing. It's really inspirational, and fun :] I used to take dance classes (jazz) when I was 5, but it was only during the summer (for like 5 days only though, it was one of those introduction things). My parents couldn't really support me with dance class that time, because of money issues. Well, now, I'm here, 13 turning 14, and I still love dancing. It's my way to pull myself out of all the stress I get, and so on. Well, now, I want to learn hip hop/breakdance. I already know one or two breakdance moves (six step and coffee grinder), but I learned those from my friends who actually take dance class. I never asked my parents..because of two reason: 1) They're really busy trying to support this family, and I can't take many activities out of school because I don't really have any ride (my parents are at work 5AM till 8PM), and plus, right now, my sister just crashed one of their new cars, so now we have to buy a new car, and get new insurances which cost a lot. 2) My parents don't like hiphop/breakdance...they don't really like rap, r&b, hip-hop, because they think it's a bad influence (the music videos on MTV and stuff). Honestly, I'm a good kid (hahaha). I get straight A's, do my chores before asked (and I don't get allowance), and I try to help out in the house as much as I can. Most of the time I make dinner for the whole family (my older sisters are lazy bums). I never complain, and MOST of the time I don't ask for money (unless I'm going shopping for school supplies or new clothes). On fridays (at 8PM), instead of partying and hanging out with my friends, I go to chinese school (two hour class of chinese). On saturdays, I spend the whole day at church (catholic scouting, CCD--somewhat bible school, and then mass). Next year when school starts, on sunday I'll be going to confirmation class (in the morning for about 2 hours). So while most kids are having fun on weekends, I'm working my butt off for a better life. I don't ask for a lot, but I really love dancing, and I want to be professionally trained....but there's always something in my way.. I've waited for 13 years, but I don't know if I can wait anymore, I just feel the NEED to take dance class, because I really love it (my friends teach me some moves at times). I know people are gonna question me, "are you sure you can handle this"...and I am SURE I can handle it. I am willing to sacrifice and give up anything just for dancing. my questions are: -what can i do with the parent problems/money issues/etc? QUOTE I never asked my parents..because of two reason: 1) They're really busy trying to support this family, and I can't take many activities out of school because I don't really have any ride (my parents are at work 5AM till 8PM), and plus, right now, my sister just crashed one of their new cars, so now we have to buy a new car, and get new insurances which cost a lot. 2) My parents don't like hiphop/breakdance...they don't really like rap, r&b, hip-hop, because they think it's a bad influence (the music videos on MTV and stuff). andd -Is it too late to take dance class?!?! Because, most people take it for like, their whole life(since they were like, 2 or 3). I know I sound whiny, I'm sorry. But I realized, I can't just sit here, and watch my life long dreams past by me, and not do anything about it. Thanks. |

I pretty much supported you for your passion.
Cant you pratice dancing at home? try to learn new moves? Maybe, you want to correct your dancing skills? increase dancing speed? having no dancing classes doesnt means you cant continue with your passion. you can also check on the search engine to look up, "breakdance tutorial" and etc. maybe, check out viedos about breakdancing and etc. i think, this is the time for you to be creative in dancing. try to "think out of the box". remember, there is no right or wrong way to dance. dancing is a form of art and creative to expressed yourselves. ![]() i think, it's best to start dancing now. you have a growing strong body. you'll learn better at this age. dont quit. find a way. dance for life. ![]() |

But, as a dancer, don't you need to like..have really good memory (you know how somebody shows you the dance moves ONCE, and you have to nail it after that)...well..i dont think i can really do that..dont you have to be trained for that kind of stuff? Well, today I "popped" the question with my dad..but like, not the whole thing. Well..actually..barely. We were at dinner, and I was like, "what do you think of hiphop/breakdancing?"...and he answered, "Well...I don't really like it because...well.....the way they dance...I don't have a problem with breakdancing..but hip hop is a whole different story."....so I continued to ask him, "What if I was interestead in taking hip hop dance classes?"............and sadly..he replied, "Well, I wouldn't want my daughter to go to some class just to learn how to shake her butt, and wear skimpy clothes. It's bad enough that they have those kind of music videos available for kids to watch, why try to learn those dances moves? I would probably disencourage, and be VERY disappointed (yes, i told him to reply HONESTLY)."..... ![]() I just really wish I could proove him wrong. But, the truth is...well..there ARE a lot of music videos like that..>.< It'd just be HARD to proove him wrong..have any suggestions? |
