I recently took a look at my own member profile to notice that I've actually submitted about eighteen layouts (I was shocked, trust me). It's hilarious because I look back at my earliest ones (which were made pre-PhotoShop/Paint) and wow.. I'm certainly not a fabulous designer now, but it's interesting to see how far I've come. It's also fun to look back at ancient posts now and then to see how your ideas have changed and how you've grown as a person. I mean, it's been over two years for me, but people change even in a year.
Edit // I want this to be strictly about cB, and how you've noticed a change in yourself through the forums, whether it's with graphics/layouts or posts. |

I haven't actually submitted any layouts here because I'm horrible with myspace/xanga coding. I prefer to do it all myself from scratch. My very first post on cB was on Feb 4 2006. Apparently I took a long break from Feb 23 to July 29. Though I can't define my improvements inside of createblog, I can define my improvements along the times I've been a part of cB by outside projects I've done. Arcadia Around Feb 4th, I created a web site with a friend. I have created many others around that time, however, this is the only layout that I can take 100% credit for. This web site is called Arcadia. The layout was made in Photoshop 7. When I look at it now, I see how simple it is. Simple can sometimes work, but it's just a slob of colors and artistic cliche's. Elysium Then I moved on to Elysium with another friend. The site never actually went anywhere, but there was some content because I have a folder full of avatars that I remember putting up for Elysium. Again, it's too simple. I was more focused on softness than actual viewing pleasure. It's just too simple. Anyone could make something like this. Eternalyfe And then came Eternalyfe - my personal blog site which is actually on hiatus right now. I kept right along with the simplicity. I'm already bored of it. Plain white content boxes, easy to make. Bored. And so I took a break, just kind of admired from afar. I was going through a graphic meltdown. I couldn't make anything that looked like I had actual talent. So I came back to Createblog to look around at some sites - see the new styles, take some pointers. (This was a bit before the opening of Unspoken - maybe 2-3 months ago.) I was itching to make another graphics site. Createblog inspired this. When a friend asked me to make one with her, I nearly died. It had been so long since I'd made a site with a friend, and none of us had touched PS for about 3 months. So it was time to start cracking the whip. Unspoken Studios So that's where the existence of U.S. came about. My graphics improved a TON. I'd still like to improve more, because I notice a lot of similar styles that I use and would like to stray away from similar layouts. But through Createblog, I can trace where my graphics have been. As for my typing - nothing's changed. I never used "ong!!11" and "lawl" or anything like that. It's probably because I'm a 1/2 writer. (Meaning that I've written many stories, but never got them published.) So yeah. There's my cB history for you, in essay form. Haha. |
