Can anyone tell me why you can say "at night" but "at day" isn't grammatically correct? "Night" and and a definition of "day" are absolute opposites describing units of time or periods of light or darkness so why can't they be used interchangeably? And then there's "tonight" and "today" which aren't opposites; "today" refering to the entire day and "tonight" refering to a specific time period (of darkness) within the "day." Language is stupid. Or maybe I am.
And that is my pointless post for the day. :) |

Sometimes you would think any other language is easier then English, but then you take a course in a different dialect and realize how much simplistic english can be (Native born Americans point of view). English is a tricky language if anything harder then some languages out there. But sadly foreigners take more time to understand english then Americans themselves. Pity us as our power is overthrown by an asian country because they know better grammer then us.
I don't even know if I made sense in anything I said in that. |

Way to turn this from a random, slightly idiotic post to possibly a thoughtful discussion on the English language. Totally not my intentions. Go bury your head in a book or something. Just kidding. Hello. |
