Which is better? To keep loving someone you can never have, or stop loving and walk away?

I was in a situation where I had to decide that exact same thing.
I honestly did want to walk away and to stop loving entirely. I didn't want to go through something like that again, especially believing that only the same will happen again. Of course, I wanted to become cold and to not emote any longer.. which I guess I still do. I haven't exactly walked away, though. I continue speaking to this person, and I am trying hard to only want them as a friend and not care for them in this way--but at the same time, I want to stop feeling this way and to not let it happen again. God this is hard. Well, I'm walking away and giving up my feelings for them and any chances of ever caring for someone else, so I guess I'll pick the latter. |
