- Largest grossing film on opening day ($55.5 million; Spider-Man 2 was the previous record-holder with $50 million)
- Largest grossing film on non-holiday Monday ($18 million; Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith was the previous record-holder with $14 million) - So far, it has grossed over $180 million (many predict it will break a third record of largest grossing film in the first single week; Spider-Man 2 holds that record at $192 million) - On unrelated (interesting nonetheless) news, it was banned in China.
