- Largest grossing film on opening day ($55.5 million; Spider-Man 2 was the previous record-holder with $50 million)
- Largest grossing film on non-holiday Monday ($18 million; Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith was the previous record-holder with $14 million) - So far, it has grossed over $180 million (many predict it will break a third record of largest grossing film in the first single week; Spider-Man 2 holds that record at $192 million) - On unrelated (interesting nonetheless) news, it was banned in China. i suppose the reason why it earned so much but reviewed so badly is because it was the most anticipated movie of the summer.
wonder why they banned it in china? are they afraid of giant squid-like monsters??? |
