- Largest grossing film on opening day ($55.5 million; Spider-Man 2 was the previous record-holder with $50 million)
- Largest grossing film on non-holiday Monday ($18 million; Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith was the previous record-holder with $14 million) - So far, it has grossed over $180 million (many predict it will break a third record of largest grossing film in the first single week; Spider-Man 2 holds that record at $192 million) - On unrelated (interesting nonetheless) news, it was banned in China. I remember watching something about this on TV. It's true that it got bad reviews, but it did make more than all of the other movies in the Box Office.
 And surely it'll be reason enough for viewers to anticipate POTC3. I know I'm excited. I heard the third movie is coming out Memorial Day weekend in 2007. |
