Has anyone heard of this animated film? It's supposed to have Keanu Reeves in it, a Matrix-esque movie. It looks really good, but I've only seen one preview for it and it was on The Jacket's DVD.

^ I guess you missed Nate's first post in this thread.
It's a Richard Linklater film, so, I'm there. If you're interested in the style, it's been done by Linklater already. In Waking Life, Linklater followed his actors and filmed them on an 8mm digital camcorder (I believe that was the camera), and later, with a team of animators and artists, began to color over each cell of footage. So, it's like super artistic tracing. They filmed the actors and then painted over their live images.
I'm betting that A Scanner Darkly will follow in the footsteps of Linklater's Slacker, and Waking Life. However, instead of that seemingly chaotic documentary style shuffling of ideas and unfamiliar plotless characters and places, I suspect that A Scanner Darkly will inded be plot driven. It will be an interesting film I'm sure. But, like I said, if you're interested in the artistic style, check out Waking Life. |
