So here I am, basically a newbie to this forum, although I post on several other forums and have done so for some considerable time.
Even though I have only been on here for a few days, I have already fallen foul of some of the 'Keepers of Good English' brigade who have flamed me for using textspeak, which is what most people here in the UK tend to use. Now, I'm not bothered by sarcastic responses, but I do take offense to 14-16yo kids patronising me, telling me to learn how to spell. How lame is that. ![]() Many people, even adults have terrible problems with spelling, not me by any means, but to have these spelling Nazis trying to appear to be so superior is just pathetic and does not give me respect for them. ![]() It appears that textspeak is regarded as only suitable for the kiddie pre-teens/dunces and that everybody else must conform by spelling correctly and posting using the correct syntax. otherwise to face flaming and have their actual post content ignored. The CB Head Honcho should have an obvious edict about this. If there is one, its not very obvious as I (briefly) read through CB rules on posting as every forum is different. But I have no problem with posting in 'Correct English' and will do so for this forum as it is appropriate. sO wAt U FiNK BouT dIs 1 Cb lololol ![]() |

ah. . . who brought up this topic again?
No matter what you do there will be people in the world who type with the mixture of caps and lowercase in a single word. However, most of them do grow out of this phase. It only lasts for a short amount of time anyway. If it bothers you, don't read it. Or let me rephrase that: Try to read it. It doesn't exactly show maturity when they type like that, but again, they usually grow out of it. Kinda like when girls grow out of dotting their i's with hearts or bubble circles. (c'mon, I know a lot of you have done that in elementary school). So, yes then a new generation of typers emerge that can't type whatsoever, so the best thing to do is ignore it and wait until they grow out of it. If it bothers you so much, well...I guess the best thing to do would be hang around places were you are able to find less kids that type like that. |
