forgetting Options

Okay. Today, I came up to my teacher to give her my late assignment.

She asked me why I gave her right now.

I told her that I didn’t do it over the weekend because I totally forgot about it. Unusually, she didn’t write down the assignments on the board that the class needed to complete. Since I had a hearing disability, I’m not really good at catching information by verbal in air.

Then she says, "That was your choice not to do it".

I was confused; I didn’t really choose not to do it.
i know it's my mistake for not remembering it.

I always turned in every assignment.
For some reason, I didn’t turn in the assignment this time.

the question is: is forgetting a choice or not ?

it's a reason, but it's not a very good excuse. of course you didn't choose not to do it, so you just forgot. a simple mistake. but like Katt said, there are things that you could do to prevent you from forgetting again.

true. i always do my best to do everything correctly.

That's like the definition of lying. Lying isn't lying unless you KNOW that you're telling the person the wrong piece of information. When you knowingly tell an untrue statement, you're lying. But you could tell someone an untrue statement accidentally, and since you didn't know that you were lying, then you weren't.

Choosing to forget only means that you chose not to do it. Forgetting, by definition, is not a voluntary act. Forgetting always means that you meant to do something, but failed to do it. Choosing to forget means that you choose to fail to do something that you meant to do.

Well, as you know, i didn’t really choose to forget and lie. Just like I mentioned, I always turn in every assignment. it means that, i really meant to do it.i'm the kind of person who cares about school and pretty much that envolve with teacher's expectations. In my case, it wasn’t voluntary forgotten, it was involuntary forgotten.
