My friends are depressed., Are your's? Options

I don't understand. I have friends that say they are depressed. They have no reason to. Maybe if they were starving to death and lived in Africa, maybe they might have a reason, but they live a normal American suburban life. It's ridiculous. Does anyone agree with me, or no?

I wasn't just depressed for two days. IT is something that you can get over. I've known people that were depressed for a long time and something changed in their lives, and they were a completely different person. Yeah, it's Psychological and chemical, but it's also your feelings and thoughts, which we control. Everything is chemical if you think about it. Your stomach tends to digest slower when you are sad. So, you can't blame depression on a chemical imbalance. I say it's selfishness because all you are doing is thinking about how much your life sucks, and all the problems within it. Yeah, they might think about other people but it's usually how that other person affects you. There is a bunch of crap that has happened to me. Why am I not depressed? Because it's how the person thinks.

You don't need professional help. You might go to counciling and that might help a little.

Wow, I got all these hippy ass sons a bitches trying to pull this psychology sh*t on me. Grow some balls people. Stop thinking about yourself and grow up. Think about other people for a change. It helps. Trust me.

Many times, depressed individuals have just reached such a state of despair that they are under the impression they can never overcome their problems.

If you say something enough times you will believe it. A lie told enough times will stick in your head and you will believe it as it is a truth. She believes she is basically a piece of crap. Why? Because she's been telling herself that she's nothing.
