what would you do if you started liking your male friend? how would i know if he likes me and how should i express it?

okay i know exactly how you feel because this happened to me. twice. not to scare you, but the first time it was a complete failure. i like one of my guy friends a lot so i started to talk to people and some of them said that he might like me. so just out of the blue i went up to him one day and asked him if he would go out with me. well he was completly shocked and said no. he thought i was kidding at first. so yeah, don't go and ask him out. the second time this happened to me it was with another one of my guy friends. instead of asking other people, i hung out with just him instead of all of my friends like i usually did. i spent more time with just him and talked to him a lot on IM. sometimes i called him saying that i forgot to write down the homework for a certain class at school. I started dropping subtle hints here and there that i liked him. i started noticing the same kind of things from him. and then finally one day i told him that i like him for more than a friend and he said he felt the same way. now we are going out. hes been my boyfriend for 5 months. some people that were best friends with both of us we a little weirded out at first but they got used to it and things are great now.
