how do u customize a div in the style.css file?

i know u have

CODE

<div class="CLASS">

and then in the style file u put

CODE

.CLASS {

but i want to know how to move it (w/ margins or w/e) change the b/g color, etc

its the layer

same thing with <div style="position: absolute" .... z-index=1

so, z-index 1 means layer 1. z-index 15 means layer 15.
