I think I like one of my guy friends., ahhh. help. Options

Errr I think I like one of best guy friends. We've been friends since 6 grade, and we were best friends in 7th/8th grade. We're not quite as good friends as we were before, but we're still pretty good friends. I guess good enough for him to have me on his top 8 on myspace. Heh. We go to a small private school, so we have all of the same classes.

Sometimes he wont talk to me as much... he wont exclude me, but he will hang around his other friends more. But then sometimes, he will almost exclude his other friends to talk/hang out with me. He's a very sweet guy, with good morals. Last year we went on a school trip together and it was wonderful. We spent almost all of our free time together.

But the thing is, how can I tell how he truly feels about me? And how should I tell him how I feel about him? He's constantly on my mind. He brightens up the worst days by just smiling at me in class. He knows that I used to like him 2 years ago. We even joke about it sometimes. But the thing is, i've liked him for almost 6 years - since 6th grade. I just dont know how to take our friendship to the next level - and tell him how I feel without freaking him out. Lol.

Any suggestions? I'm clueless. I've never been in a relationship, let alone on a date, so I have no clue on what to do.



[edit] He's very outgoing and a funny guy. He's more like the class/school clown. Lol. And he looks just like Napoleon Dynamite... just not quite as skinny, and is way cuter/sweeter. So what would be a funny/cute way of telling him? lol.

Just tell him you have a sorta crush on him. Dont lay it all out to him at one spot.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. He's been acting weird lately. Sometimes he'll act like he likes me, and then sometimes he'll act like I bother/irritate him.

Boys are confusing. lol.

AND, the other day I had a friend tell me that he (the guy I like) said that I bother him, and that I'm like glued to him. And then It turns out he said the same thing to some 7th grader. WTF? He's the one who usually ends up sitting next to me at lunch and stuff. He's the one who walks up to me in homeroom when I'm getting my books out of my backpack, and starts a conversation. Its more of a equal thing. I figure that either: (1) my friend lied (2) he really feels that way, or (3) he just said that so they wouldnt think that I like him. Maybe my friend just asked him, and he freaked out and said that?

I dont know. I'm just worried. Worried that i've been bugging the crap out of him. Maybe he's pretending to be nice to me and friends with me because he feels sorry for me? I dont know why he would though.

And, if I "irritated" him, why would he have offered me a ride last night after our school play to go to the cast party?? And make everyone else sit in the back, and save the front seat for me? And sit next to me in the restaurant?

I'm confused. lol
