I think I like one of my guy friends., ahhh. help. Options

Errr I think I like one of best guy friends. We've been friends since 6 grade, and we were best friends in 7th/8th grade. We're not quite as good friends as we were before, but we're still pretty good friends. I guess good enough for him to have me on his top 8 on myspace. Heh. We go to a small private school, so we have all of the same classes.

Sometimes he wont talk to me as much... he wont exclude me, but he will hang around his other friends more. But then sometimes, he will almost exclude his other friends to talk/hang out with me. He's a very sweet guy, with good morals. Last year we went on a school trip together and it was wonderful. We spent almost all of our free time together.

But the thing is, how can I tell how he truly feels about me? And how should I tell him how I feel about him? He's constantly on my mind. He brightens up the worst days by just smiling at me in class. He knows that I used to like him 2 years ago. We even joke about it sometimes. But the thing is, i've liked him for almost 6 years - since 6th grade. I just dont know how to take our friendship to the next level - and tell him how I feel without freaking him out. Lol.

Any suggestions? I'm clueless. I've never been in a relationship, let alone on a date, so I have no clue on what to do.



[edit] He's very outgoing and a funny guy. He's more like the class/school clown. Lol. And he looks just like Napoleon Dynamite... just not quite as skinny, and is way cuter/sweeter. So what would be a funny/cute way of telling him? lol.

a way to ask him out without making him think that's it's all serious is saying something like "let's go somewhere tonight." the worst thing he could say is "sorry i can't i'm doing something else." whereas if you asked him to be your boyfriend or something it could be awkward. if you go out alone together more casually, he'll only think about you the entire time and he might develop the same feelings for you as you have for him.
