.bin files on mac

I've been trying to install a .bin file on my mac and it opens in exel and it doesn't work.
What I'm asking is, what do I open the file on?

A .bin file is a Macintosh file archive and it can be decompressed with StuffIt Expander. StuffIt Expander is available for free from here.

Guilty as charged. I've worked with Macintoshes since the early 1990s, so I know my way around them pretty well.
