FFVIII, help needed Options

I'm on the fourth disk on FFVIII and I keep dying on the first boss (Edel). If anyone has already beaten the game, could you give me some hints? For instance, how do I get the Samantha Soul? How can I defeat Edel without hurting Rinoa and yet at the same time heal Rinoa when she gets her HP drained?

Um...Adel's used ultima more than once on my account. Squall has recover, and that heals everyone's HP completely. Also, I was unable to mug anything. I don't know why. No one mentioned the use of GFs. Perhaps you were reading it wrong. Regen is only semieffective. Adel uses magic and only magic so her damage to my party's members are 1000 and up. Regen only recovers about 450 HP. Recover is far more effective. Like I said before, Irvine dies on the Adel's first attack.

Adels last attack is still meteor. As in , when you get her HP down to 0, she gets one last turn and uses Ultima. I don't know why you can't mug anything, who is mug equipped onto?

I remember fighting that..was it a pain in the ass. I just got lucky, really. All I can tell you is that you should probably have one character who has the strongest physical attacks, one who has the best GFs, and another who can focus on healing the whole party and Rinoa.

Theres the idiot who mentioned GF's. You should only really use GF's if you're gonna heal Rinoa alot. BUt if anything, use Doomtrain, cerebus and all the other magic casting Gf's.

I don't know why your Regan is so low, must be because of your magic strenght. No problem is using Recover, just don't give it to squall. He is most likely your strongest character, so you shouldn't waste his turns healing people. Also, if irvine is so weak, just get someone else it. Lastly, you might want to assign 2 people as attackers, and the last person as the healer. Using abilities such as Recover and Revive, more than attacking. Mostly attacking when the other 2 aren't hurt or low on Hp. Which won't be Often.



Plus, if she only uses Magic, and magic damage is 1000 and up, then use magic like SHell and stuff. If your have quistis, use that Might Guard, or Selphies Wall. You could just even use Cerebus and Shell. Lastly, to reduce the damage, you have to raise either their vitality or spirit/something like that. I think it's the latter, because that one is your Magic defense, as vitality is the physical attack resistence I think.
