Anyone here got a home studio that makes music? I do, but very far from professional.

^Let me answer your question for him/her....quality all depends on what soundcard you have, first of all. I mean if you have a very expensive condenser mic and a decent pre-amplifier/mixer, it might still not sound satisfying and professional if you don't have a perfect audio soundcard...but you should always get a condenser mic with a preamp to get decent quality..but for me, I use a very small mixer (eurorack 502) and a 115 dollar dynamic mic...dynamic mics arent that good for recordin, but still I use it because im broke and it dosent sound that bad....well at least better than a computer mic..so if you wanna start out and have fun, I suggest you save up some big bucks and buy a condenser mic..cheapest one I know is like 72 dollars? but its a USB condenser mic..the usb condenser mic dosen't sound that great though IMO..but its aight..therefore, you dont need a preamp..you can just directly plug the mic to the back of your soundcard/computer..and it'll work...but for most condenser mics, they need phantom power..in order to have phantom power, you need a preamp...hope that helps..just the basics..
