Politicians sure love to talk about violent, bloody games like Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Kombat, and Postal. I just finished reading this one article on PC Gamer (was bored) and despite what people like Hilary Clinton and Jack Thompson have been ranting about all this time, violent and firearm-related crimes and teenage homicides have actually declined even after the release of the Playstation, and is still lower than 20 years ago when 'violent' games like "Mario Bros." were coming out.
GameRevolution has written a similar article but using the same source: http://gr.bolt.com/articles/violence/violence.htm If you don't feel like reading, the whole essay can be summarized in the three charts below, taken by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Statistics (or in other words, a good, reliable source): ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Games doesnt cause violent. Children these days are lacking knowledge and logical thinking skills. They dont go outside and learn about the real world.
I dont mind kids pretending to be one of the characters from games. As long they are NOT meant to be hurtful or in a way of being lame. Sooner or later, children will someday see knifes, scissors, broken glasses, blood, gang members, dead body at the funeral, and whatsoever. I personally think ... parents are somewhat responsible for children's behaviors. Right? As a child, my parent spanked me to not to do "wrong" things without stating any reasons. Yes, i did lack logical thinking. But who should train kids to be wiser? |
