Are you one of those girls?, Because I am.. Options

You know those girls around school who are always only with guys? I think I'm one of those girls. The problem is, I don't even want a boyfriend until I'm a sophomore in college. (I'm a junior in high school right now), yet people always think that I'm friends with guys only to get with them. The real reason I have so many more guys friends than girls is because of the issues that I've had with my girl friends before.

Okay, so I've never really been able to connect with girls. I don't do a lot of "girly" things, like gossiping, having lots of boyfriends, and putting on makeup. I'm not a tomboy or anything. I just never really got into those kinds of things. The girls see me with my guy friends and automatically assume that I'm a flirt and my only goal is to get with guys, which is totally not the case. In fact, I'd rather have girl friends than guys. I feel left out and wish that I was more girly (ahaha) at times, but I can't make myself into someone that I'm not.

When I try to make friends with girls (who are almost all girly at my school), I become this horrible conversationalist with no social skills. The conversations are awkward and boring. It totally sucks, and people always get the wrong impression of me.

Soo...my quesion is: Do any of you have these problems? I know I'm not the only one. If you do, what do you do about it to change other people's assumptions about you?

i know exactly how you feel
when i talk to girls, they seem to be turned off by me because i look at things the way they are. The hard facts of life. I get along better with guys because of this. I can relate to guys because i can put things into perspective like they can and make fun of it. I totally know what you ;mean by the "drama". I dont really want a bf till college either, and girls think i'm gonig out with a guy just because he rides me places or we go to the movies just to hang out...not as a date at all. Then the rumors start. I cant really get into the whole fashion thing either. Like i dont really care what I look like. just as long as i look presentable. It drives my mom crazy, because when we go shopping, i cant stand trying on clothes that are in style over and over again. I just like wearing what I like. Also when we're going to like a semi formal ceremony, like a banquet, she always complains i dont have enough makeup on. i put on eyeliner in the corners of my eyes, mascara, and copper eyeshadow. She thinks i need the bronzer and loads more mascara. It makes me feel like theres something wrong with me because i dont want to look like a geisha girl.


i mean i'm not like a tomboy liek you said. I like skirts once in a while, and like experimenting with different haircuts.
I like trying on shoes too, but I never end up buying them because I know i'd only wear them once and then shove them in the back of my closet like all my other non-sneaker shoes.

When i do talk to girls though, its like i feel out of place because i cant talk about who's going out with who and all that gossip. I mean I like gossip and everything, but only if it affects me in some way. Who doesnt like gossip? seriously i think my dad likes it more than i do. I just dont have an interest in what girls talk about. all they care about is what they're going to wear and how they look. the thing is, there are girls just like me at my school, but they're either gothic, do some kind of drug, or skip class and fail. I just cant hang out with someone like that because ya know...it'll drag me down.

or it maybe just because i'm a cynical, pessimistic person.
