You know those girls around school who are always only with guys? I think I'm one of those girls. The problem is, I don't even want a boyfriend until I'm a sophomore in college. (I'm a junior in high school right now), yet people always think that I'm friends with guys only to get with them. The real reason I have so many more guys friends than girls is because of the issues that I've had with my girl friends before.
Okay, so I've never really been able to connect with girls. I don't do a lot of "girly" things, like gossiping, having lots of boyfriends, and putting on makeup. I'm not a tomboy or anything. I just never really got into those kinds of things. The girls see me with my guy friends and automatically assume that I'm a flirt and my only goal is to get with guys, which is totally not the case. In fact, I'd rather have girl friends than guys. I feel left out and wish that I was more girly (ahaha) at times, but I can't make myself into someone that I'm not. When I try to make friends with girls (who are almost all girly at my school), I become this horrible conversationalist with no social skills. The conversations are awkward and boring. It totally sucks, and people always get the wrong impression of me. Soo...my quesion is: Do any of you have these problems? I know I'm not the only one. If you do, what do you do about it to change other people's assumptions about you? |

I'm just like you, almost exactly! I think because I grew up with two brothers, I was always really tomboyish. I'm not like a... to the extreme tomboy but I don't wear makeup and I just don't really CARE too much for all that jewelry and girly stuff. Majority of my friends are guys, and my boyfriend haaaates that. He always tells me that guys and girls can never just be "friends". There's always a reason. But I've been like for as long as I can remember. I always hung out with my brothers and their friends, it's always been that way. I hate it whenever I hear about girls having sleepovers or "girls night out". I've never had those before and I wish that I could! I mean, although I'm not into all that makeup and girly jazz, it would still be nice to have some girl FRIENDS, you know? I do have some girl friends but it'sjust not that same... connection that I have with my guys. And oh goodness, a lot of the Asian girls at my school that DON'T talk or associate with me, HATE me. Only because they say that I am a flirt, a tease, and that I'm "too good" for the other girls. It's horrible because I don't like to be labelled like that, although I know that I am not. I always tell my guy friends about it but they just tell me to not worry about it, because I know that that's not true. Plus I can never really get along with girls around here. They are all always into gossip, trash talking, etc. It's disgusting, I hate being around them. They're just not my people. And if they are, then they are JUST like me as well, can't stand the girls around them. Ahh I'm sorry that I couldn't answer your questions because I actually want to know myself how I can attain girl friends as well. I just wanted to reply and tell you, I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL!! |
