I think all of Royo's art is started by hand and some are enhanced with digital programs. From his website, "I use a lot of materials. Many times I begin with water colors, other times with acrylics, even others with pencils... I use the airbrush gradually, discovering the illustration step by step. At the end, when you have the whole composition, and the figure is more or less perfect, you must use oil to finish it completely. The oil’s richness in color is much higher than that of acrylics, water colors or any other material. "
