When did CB get so uptight about grammatical details?
Now, don't get me wrong. I realize that correct grammar and coherent sentences are important. Sure, sometimes I can't help but subtly pointing out a grammatical mistake. But is it really necessary to bash someone for a run-on sentence or misplaced apostrophe? Do people really deserve less respect because of the way they type? It seems as if some people are desperate for superiority... I'm surprised at how many evangelical grammatists have developed on this forum. Thoughts? Opinions? Partagez avec nous, s'il-vous-plait. |

I'd say it's a pet peeve of mine too, but I don't call people out on it.
And I have to say I haven't seen too many of these nazis on cB myself..luckily we don't have many members who spell things atrociously on purpose, like, "lol i think ur funny 2" or something like that. If I saw that, I'd probably respond to it. It's just like, why do people want to bash the written English language? I don't get mad if I can at least understand the person, but I just don't see what the big deal is about typing "you" instead of just "u." |
