This is kinda weird but I was talking with my friend about heaven and we came across a question; can you still go to heaven if you commit suicide?(you would obviously already believe and God and all)
I know it's a weird question but I was just wondering what your opinions were about that.

I can't help but think that the Church's condemnation of suicide was a way to combat ritual sacrifice and/or suicide. Christianity taught that faithful Christians who died went to heaven, but the Church leaders couldn't have people killing themselves to get into heaven; thus, they made a condemnation of suicide. I can't help but looking at the political implications of the condemnation. It's similar, in my mind, to why Jesus' birthday is celebrated in December, instead of when he was really born.
