“you’re just a man,”
she’d say, scowling, prowling the inner depths of my mind searching for any explication “you’re just a man,” predisposed to apathy, happily ignorant and indifferent to emotion unmindful and sensually stolid “you’re just a man,” with indignant cries, lies in the forefront of my consciousness beleaguering my sanity “you’re just a man,” would crop up in fights, nights laced with acrimonious heartache the dissonance still rattles my skull “you’re just a man,” without any feeling, stealing away your tears and laughing giddy with contemptible naivety “you’re just a man,” perhaps it’s true, imbued deeper than hammurabi’s code unchangeably written “you’re just a man!” stupid man… |

I love the structure of this poem and the words you use. It's brilliant. I also love the lines with only one word.
mind emotion consciousness heartache laughing code All words that a man can either cause/do/is. Maybe I'm reading into it too much but it all adds up to a compliment in my mind. |
