Sadly, that is sooo true, but I'm going to argue for the other side, just for the heck of it History makes the man memorable because if the conditions werent right for the person to act and do whatever it is that garnered them a place in the textbooks, we wouldnt know about them.. Take George Washington for example.. if Britain hadnt imposed all those taxes on the colonies, they would not have wanted to revolt.. in fact, if Thomas Paine hadnt distributed his brochure, "Common Sense", the American Revolution would not have happened, George Washington, instead of leading his country to victory and becoming the first president, might've lived out his life as a farmer on his Virginia plantation, unbeknownest to textbooks today.. so it is because history gave him the opportunity, that he rose up and and became immortalized in American history |
