1. Marijuana contains roughly 10 times the amount of carcinogenic substances as cigarettes. Furthermore, marijuana smoke is inhaled more deeply, and held in the lungs longer, than cigarette smoke. In that sense, marijuana is more dangerous, but most people smoke far more cigarettes than marijuana, and in that sense, cigarettes are more dangerous.
2. You cannot get addicted to cigarettes with just one. 3. Cigarettes contain tobacco, although there are other ways to smoke tobacco, including pipe and hookah. 4. Both are dangerous to the lungs. Marijuana contains more carcinogens, but I think cigarettes might have more tar (don't hold me to that, though, I might be wrong). However, keep in mind that marijuana smoke is generally not filtered before being inhaled. 5. Yes, if you smoked marijuana or tobacco infrequently, or just once, it could be cleaned from the body. Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, takes roughly 28 days to leave the body completely, as it is stored in fat. 6. Smoking rarely would cause your body to cleanse itself, although I don't know if it would do so at a faster rate. Just out of curiosity, is this really for a health project? |
