Okay, I don't get what the hell just happened. Crash as best picture of the year? Not even. The only conclusion I can come to is that Brokeback and Capote split votes and Crash came out on the winning end of that one. Holy...damn.
I'm also highly surprised "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp" won for Best Song, but pleasantly so. I don't know what Taraji P. Henson was doing at the end but whatever. What did everyone else think about the ceremony? Edit: If you want to discuss Oscars fashion, go to this thread. |

I'm disappointed about Philip Seymour Hoffman. I didn't think his performance was at all better than Joaquin Pheonix's. Everyone kept saying how Reese Witherspoon was the heart of the movie. She wasn't. Don't get me wrong, she was absolutely amazing in the film and I'm thrilled that she received the reward. I just thought Capote was a hammy performance, full of "this is my Oscar moment" moments.
Rachel Weisz was a fairly obvious win and I have not seen to Constant Gardener, so I don't feel qualified to make any type of judgement there. I loved Michelle William's peformance though, so most likely I'll be a little critical of Weisz whenever I get a chance to see the film. I haven't seen Syriana either, so ditto the above. Best supporting was a tough catagory though for sure. (I don't find Georgle Clooney all that attractive, but I have to say that he is truly a classic guy). Crash.. eh, not sure if it won because it was a great film, or because everyone expected it to win, or it was award to nod the ensemble cast. Either way, bleh on that. Brokeback Mountain should have won. (And a hearty congratulations to Ang Lee) Oh and I thought Dolly Parton looked great! |
