i was just wondering if anyone around CB here has been in experienced songwriting or is used too Songwriting over the years ? as for me i`ve just recently started with 3 songs in my mind half of each song re written part not sure where or wether it should be written out . now the big question is do you establish and start with the words/hooks/phrasing (the writing part) and then create music notes melody based on the words or do you create the words based on the music notes melody and chords? which is a better way or is it different for everyone ? i usually start gaining ideas from my music first rather then gaining music from my words .

I've been a songwriter for about 9 years now. I'm still using songs I wrote back in the 8th grade. For me, I've found that there is not way to go about songs. I'm also a producer, I make tracks and play piano, as well as sing, so I find many different ways to write lyrics. Sometimes I just have a thought or idea that pops in my head and write down everything I can. I usually have some melody idea in my head at the time, but then I always forget it. Then I go back and come up with a melody i like for it. I also listen to tracks online and write melodies and lyrics to them. Sometimes i come up woth a nice melody, play it out on the piano, and find words for it. Sometimes I'll write lyrics, with no particular idea for them, then I'll find a track or I'll make a track, go back through my notebook, and find that they fit. I've got about 150 songs, concepts, lines, verses etc in my book. I just write what comes to me. THe best thing to do is get out something you can come back to later. You never want to force write your music. Because sometimes you will write something and think it is a verse, then a few days (or weks moths years etc) go by and you come up with more to add to it, you may find it fits better as a bridge or a chorus. And you want your ,elodies to flow, and a lot of time lyrics will write the melodies for you. If you write out a line, depending how many syllablesand how many words and how many word rhyme, depends on how you would say it. So say it out loud, get a rhythm, like a rap, and start putting a melody to it. Always have a tape recorder around because you will forget! But thats all the different ways I do things. And I have a lot of good stuff if you ask me. :)
