Definition

Some people get confused or don't really know the complete definition for "Anime" or "Otaku" is. So here are the definitions to help you out!

Anime: a style of animation originating in Japan. It is sometimes referred to by the portmanteau Japanimation. Anime is characterized by stark, colorful graphics and stylized, colorful images depicting vibrant characters in a variety of different settings and story-lines, aimed at a wide range of audiences. Anime may be broadcast on television, distributed on media such as DVDs or published as console and computer games. Anime is usually influenced by Japanese comics known as manga.


Otaku: a variety of geek (or an overly obsessed fanboy / fangirl) specializing in anime and manga.

Hehe when I was in the anime club I had to go to every darn meeting so I hated it...

Naomi remenber I told you TokyoPop sent me that thing with fruit baskets? I scanned like 4 pages but somehow I only got 2 actually to work. I swear my scanner is a mysterious thing.. anyways heres the links to my photobucket where I uploaded them. Sorry if they got cut off and such. And oh yeah its not the whole manga.. I thought it was because it said fruits basket on the front cover.

Haha. Sammy, you're talking about the magazine, Taikuhai. I get that, too. Silly boy, that was just the volume 13 preview. You had me all worked up about it and everything! Jeez...haha, oh well. I'm cool. I've already read scans up to chapter 21 or so.

I know! Isn't it wonderful. I love that we have a good number of members, but I wish more people would post in the "Getting To Know Your Fellow Otaku" thread so we could all learn more about each other! [/subtle pluggage]
