I was wondering who else plays Super Smash Brothers: Melee on cB. So, who plays?

Do you play competive Melee?
Are you in the tournament circuit?
Who are your primary and secondary characters?
Anyone in here a pro?

I have been playing for some time, but I just recently got very interested in advanced techniques, play, and competive Melee.

My main characters are:
Peach.
Marth.
Fox.
Ness.
Ice Climbers.

This is probably one of my favorite games of all time. Absolute love for this game.

Like, when I play Soul Calibur, it feels like a fighting game. When I play Street Fighter, it feels like a fighting game. When I play Tekken, it feels like a fighting game. When I play Mortal Kombat, it feels like a fighting game.
When I play Smash Bros., I feel like I'm playing a game that was made for 10 year olds.
Throwing turnips at my opponents, "cartoon violence", and comic mischief just lacks a certain seriousness that I've needed in my video gaming since the end of elementary school.

Soul Calibur has nearly no real gore value. And weapon attacks, which is what the series is known for and is comprised mostly of, bring cartoonish sound effects and bright anime like flashes, and weapon movements are followed by purplish wave effects.

Tekken has characters including a break dancing rastafarian, a Bruce Lee photocopy, and a leapord head wearing pro wrestler. The gore value is also limited, with punches striking with, again, bright flashes.

Street Fighter starred Jean Claude Van Dam.

Mortal Kombat was bad ass though.

Is the jury still out on young adults devoting their time to things made for children, and attributing false, or unimportant meaning? Look at anime conventions...

The day a style of media in which Samurai X is classified is called "For Kids" is the day pigs fly.


Anyway, I loved Killer Instinct. Streaming together a million hit combos was awesome. And it had cool characters. But that doesnt mean you, or I can't like something a bit on the cartoony side, especially when its as solid of a fighter as SSB is. Great and memorable characters, distinct and individual character strategies, excellent level involvement, fun bonuses, and a statistics page more detailed than anything, even GTA.

man, I need toget this game again and hook up my GCN.
