LMAO!! I somewhat agree that the term "Nigga" isn't often used as a racial slur unlike "Ni****". Why? I've heard many black people associating by saying that word. You can find them anywhere on the streets. One guy would be like, "What's Going On Nigga", and the other one would respond by saying, "I'm Doing Good Nigga". But not trying to be stereotypical/racial or in category that falls there, I think that if a white man calls a black man a nigga, the black guy will get offended. But if a black man calls a black man a nigga, I think they would be cool with it. Just think about...you hear the word "Nigga" everywhere in jokes, raps, etc. I think that word has changed it's position from the slang, racial terms to a "most-often used word". Some real slang racial terms include, Ni****, C**** used to offend chinese people, M*** to offend irish people, but how about Nigga? I don't 100% agree with the white teacher, but man that was funny. He deserves to be on the chapelle show. DISCUSS! "Can you lend a nigga pencil??" rofl. *dying* |

Well even if the student had(which it appears he did not) used the term "Nigga" it still isn't in any way, shape, or form appropriate for the teacher to use that word. If the teacher had a problem with the student saying it(again, which it appears he did not)then he should've disciplined the student, not used the term back at him. Also, with the way things are these days, its just in very poor taste for any non-african american to use that word unless with people who are truly understanding of that person's intent. Just like I have once or twice said "Nigga" around my friends, they know how I mean it, as a fun light-hearted greeting. They say it back to me. Not to be in anyway tied with the other N word which I have only said once(about 10 years ago) then once I found out what it meant I have never had the urged nor ever again used that fowl word. Also some of my friends are mexican, they don't mind if I say "Wet back" too. But I never say any of those words if I'm in a social setting where I know my intent will not be understood and/or tolerated.
It goes back to that saying "there is a time and place for everything". I let my friends call my "White Trash", "Cracker", "Honky" and anything else they like so long as I know that it is done in a friendly manner. |
