Wow, what a list...
I was a ballboy for the Sixers as a kid so I met Allen Iverson during his rookie season. He's not a tall guy by any means. I played ball with Dejuan(sp) Wagner in Camden, NJ (across the bridge from Philly). I ran into Peedi Crakk of State Property last summer at a gas station in Delaware. He had Oschino, Sparks and Freeway with him in a big body Escalade EXT. When I first started DJing, I met Bow Wow and dissed him because I didn't have a clue as to who he was (and didn't care). I tried to call out J-Boog (of B2K) to battle him and he said, "I don't battle." I've talked to producers 9th Wonder, Needlez and Thrilla (HeatMakerZ) via email but I doubt that counts as anything. Ryan Nyquist came to my middle school when I lived in Florida and did a presentation in the front of my class, but I was too starstruck to say anything to him (I idolized the guy at the time). Before the Houston explosion, I met Chamillionaire and Paul Wall (when they were still friends), Rasaq, Lil' Ken and Liveola at a recording studio here in town. Mike Jones used to sell his mixtape outside of the mall 10 minutes away from my house. I bought '#1 Draft Picks' from him and it was actually ok. He made it big and sold out. I met Jason Williams (Miami Heat) in a 'Sports Authority' store in Florida. When I lived in Tampa, I met; the Yinga Yang Twinz, John Lynch, Mike Alstott, Shaun King, Keyshaun Johnson, Brad Johnson, Derrick Brooks and Ronde Barber. I've played ball with Antonio Daniels at Home Court America. He's a real cool and laid back guy. Plus, everyone pointed out how I resembled him. *shrugs* I met Vince Young before he was 'hot shit.' Didn't really talk to the guy much, but he seems like he's a clown and fun to chill with. Beno Udrih (San Antonio Spurs) is friends with one of my workout partners on campus. I didn't even recognize him when I met him, but when all went down to the court in the rec center of UTSA, other people recognized him and he greeted Tony Parker's brother. Oh yea, Tony Parker's brother goes to school with me and was in my political science class last semester, but I never talked to him. Never had a reason to. Although I have met Tony Parker in an IHOP while he was signing autographs. He was kind of a pompous jerk. Manu Ginobili was filming a commercial on campus and everyone was talking to him. Including me. Malik Rose (now with NY Knicks) went to the same church as we did and invited my family to dinner but only my parents went. They kicked it off real well because my parents (well, my mom is) are from Philly. I did talk to him about the idea of bringing 'Tastycakes' and 'Herrs' to his cheesteak franchise. Didn't happen. Meeting David Robinson was seeing one of your uncles you don't know and haven't seen before. Nonetheless, he was very nice. There's more, but I don't feel like contuing. I've been in the right places at the right time and sometimes it was just by chance. Either way, I don't really get worked up when I meet someone famous. |
