Custom Emoticons, And how to use them?

I've seen in alot of journals custom emoticons for their specific mood. I'm pretty new to livejournal, so I have NO idea on how to do that.

Is it the same as the custom emoticons code for xanga, or is there a certain one for livejournal, or is it something totally different? blink.gif
