real or fake?
i saw a website that sells lighters...it's one of those torch lighters that shoot off a blue flame. claims that the flame temperature can reach 2,500 F (1,371 C) and can melt a penny. is this true or are they just making up stuff? plz, i wanna know, so be great to hear from u guys soon. |

:O I didn't even know fire could hit 2500 degrees Fahrenheit! That's like.. 10x the temperature of boiling point.
It seems interesting, but I don't really believe in it. And the fact that it's a blue flame.. There could be a certain chemical in it making it appear blue. We tried it in chemistry! :D Potassium makes pink fire ![]() |

We tried it in chemistry! :D Potassium makes pink fire ![]() well...2,500/212 gives u 11.792452830188679245283018867925 etc etc...that's 11.7 and it's heading to 12 if u round it up. i heard it's just butane filled, like most other lighters...i've even seen some of these lighters. just dunno if it's 2,500 F. though it's really hot i know and u can hear the jet comin from it and if u put ur hand about 50 cm from the direction of the flame u can feel the intense heat radiated from it... potassium compounds give a lilac or purple color when put with a flame. i've done it before...Na compounds = yellow flame, Li compounds = red flame, Cu compounds = green flame, Ca compounds = brick-red flame and so on... |
