I can't quite get my layout right., Hiding too much or something? Options

Oook, so I'm completely confused.

I have three pictures- a background, a main thing where my about me section and such would go on, and an image map with the links.

And I just want those three things on there, nothing else.

This guy sort of has it.
The way he has everything all centered and spiffed out?

Well I tried to do that with hiding everything and then just putting in the codes for the map & images & such.
But it came out like this...way wrong?

If anyone can help me out at all, I'd really appreciate it. =/
