It seems as though places like school are becoming segregated again. I go to an all black school, with the exception of 3 or 4 asians and 3 or 4 hispanics. I used to do the M to M program. It was a program called Minority to Majority. Then they shut it off because of one man complaining about busing. It turns out he was a racist and didn't want blacks going to school with his daughter.(Which now blacks are moving into their community so...) Now they made me go back to my home school Towers. I don't live in the inner city and my neighborhood is black. Busing forced intergration. I loved going to Peachtree because of the fact that it was so many different races there. Now it is only one race. No diveristy at all. That is not how it is going to be in the real world. You will incounter people from all different backgrounds. So the question is Should we restart Busing

QUOTE(onenonly101 @ May 17 2004, 8:13 PM) They are different. Our cultures are different the way we do things are different. T So we should have affirmative action BY CULTURE then? So my friends have a secret subculture, so to increase diversity we should get moved up above our ability level? QUOTE(onenonly101 @ May 17 2004, 8:13 PM) We do not have the "right" to hate. We don't really have rights we have privledges and things we think we should have/do The Constitution says we have the right to believe whatever we want. And we have the right to say it. I don't know about in fascist dictatorships, but in the United States of America, I have the right to hate whoever I want and say it. QUOTE(onenonly101 @ May 17 2004, 8:13 PM) You will feel pain because you do not die right after the shot is fired You could. QUOTE(onenonly101 @ May 17 2004, 8:13 PM) Actually it won't. Have you ever been bussed? I have i don't care if i spend one 1 on the buss I recieve different views on life by going to diverse schools. I have been bussed and I do care. Not only am I wasting time, my parents are wasting their tax dollars. Which means that I might not be able to pay for college. QUOTE(onenonly101 @ May 17 2004, 8:13 PM) It wasn't because then the case of Swann v. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education made busing. Most of the children already rode buses to and from school anyways and that made the courts order busing to desegregate schools. Busing broke segregation in the South. Gary Orfield said this : The issue of school segregation had become one of helping our schools serve a student body where two of every five students are minorities and preparing out children for a society that is in the midst of a great transformation. Here in Georgia we are the most segregated state. I don't like seeing/knowing that. Diveristy is a myth to you but not to the majority of the American people who welcome it and believe in it. There's a difference between legal segregation and social segregation. There is NOTHIGN WRONG WITH SOCIAL SEGREGATION. The First Amendment guarantees the RIGHT TO ASSEMBLY. That means I have the right to assemble with whoever I want! That also means I have the right to NOT assemble with whoever I don't want! That means that you have that right too! Hate black people? You don't have to deal with them. Forcing segregation IN FACT causes legal (and I use that term very loosely) discrimination, since it violates the said amendment. The whole reason institutional segregation was wrong was because it violated the freedom of assembly (i.e. you didn't have the right to associate with black people). Now, busing violates that EXACT SAME RIGHT (i.e. now you don't have the right NOT to associate with black people or whatever). Modern "civil rights" is using State Power to enfroce racial associations that its advocates deem desirable. Exactly what it used to fight against. |
