QUOTE(yo pusha @ Dec 15 2005, 11:47 PM) I've been thinking about this statement since it was first posted. I do agree with you, Big and Pac are overrated. This does not, however, negate the greatness of these two. I was watching this thing on MTVJams that was some hip-hop summit/discussion/forum thing sponsored by XXL and David Banner was talking about how when Big and Pac were killed, how the whole culture was just...grieving. He said that they were the voices of a generation, something that I agree with wholeheartedly. Overrated, yes, but certainly among the top that have ever held a mic. |

Overrated, yes, but certainly among the top that have ever held a mic. of course they were great, but the main reason that people think they are great is because they were conscious and spoke out about social issues... so did martin luther king! does that mean martin luther king was one of the greatest rappers? not at all. their music was definately above average, but they aren't even in my top 20 lyrically. maybe its their charisma or personality, but musically they arent at all that great. |
