Here's the deal:
I installed a Nvidia GeForce 6600 (PCI-e) card in my computer. Supposedly my 'Maximum Power Output' on my power supply is only 305W, where the card requires a minimum of 350W. I figured this would be okay since I havn't filled all my PCI slots, I only have one hard drive, etc. It's been working just fine. However, when I play games, my fan seems to speed up considerably. So much that you can here it loud throughout the whole room. Thanks. |

Wait, your PSU fan speeds up, or all your fans in general?
Is this a stock PSU that came with your computer/case? What brand is your PSU? I seriously reccomend getting a high quality PSU. Too many things can go wrong with bargain PSUs. I'd change the one that was bundled with my case, but it's a special form factor so it would be really hard to find a replacement. |
