![]() Personally, I think Papoose is holding it down but Saigon is on the virge of making it big. Yo Pusha got me listening to Budden and Spider Loc is actually bringing credibility back to G-Unit. Discuss. |

Releases either Tommorow or Wednesday! It's... It's what?? IT'S THAT ON TOP MUZIK!!!!!!! sup kc. It depends on what you want to listen to. If you want that conscious type music try Sweatshop Union, a group of white men critisizing the state of rap. Trust me it's not as bad as it seems, the beats are ill and they can rap. Google them. If you want clever punchlines with gun talk then JR Writer is who you want to listen to. I recommend "The Legend" mixtape, which is available for free download at U-Mad.net. Papoose is definately the artist who uses the most wordplay. Check out his mixtape A Moment of Silence, hosted by Clinton Sparks. I also recommend "The Beast", a Talib Kweli x Papoose colalboration. There's this one line in there that makes me roll every time.. Fabolous, Joe Budden, A-Team, Paul Cain are definately the best "all around" artists. Multis, Punches, Wordplay, Conscious, Love Songs, and they got good production. For A-Team check out their first DJ Clue mixtape "Hardhood Classics Vol. 1", for Joe Budden check out "Mood Muzik Vol. 2", I haven't heard it, but it probably will be the best music you will hear in a while. Fabolous, check out any one of his mixtapes, just don't go buying his albums. I think he's the most consistent rapper in terms of hot 16s. Other artists you should look out for.. Copywrite - best punchline cat out, but he keeps getting his ass kicked. Get "Cruise Control Vol. 1" if you want to check him out, it's sold at tower records. Saigon, "conscious" rapper who has clever punches, he has what people call "crossover potential", because he is the sort of rapper that mainstream fans could enjoy too. Lupe Fiasco, the nerd version of Papoose. Very creative, great wordplay, check out Farenhiet First and Fifteenth. What about DJs? If you want real underground artists, go cop some Def Jux samplers, that is what people classify as "nerd rap". Artists like Aesop Rock, lots of their stuff goes over your head. Or go cop an QN5 mixtape, artists like Cunninlynguistics and Mr. SOS, conscious artists with clever lyrics. My favorite mixtape DJ is DJ Clue, but he hasn't released anything new since Fidel Cashflow Pt. 2. peace. |
