QUOTE(uLoVeMikeRoch @ Dec 25 2005, 5:15 PM) So, they are trying to combine all the protocols, so Aim users can communicate with MSN users and etc? I didn't get the Article that much. But I know one thing for sure. They hired Sean Egan!! Not exactly. Google did acquire stock in AOL, and there is talk of allowing AIM users to communicate with Jabber users and vice-versa--but that wouldn't include MSN. The content of the article, however, is about Google and the Jabber Software Foundation's attempts to release an open standard for multimedia IM'ing, meaning any software could include functionality that would make it compatible with that standard. (Edit) Actually, another article details the AOL-Google-MSN "alliance": QUOTE Microsoft and AOL end partnership discussions
Microsoft and AOL have ended partnership discussions involving compatible messengers (AIM, MSN Messenger) and removing the Google search engine from the AOL site and replacing it with Microsoft's MSN Search. It is expected that a Google-AOL partnership will be announced. |
