hmm...I hope this goes in the right place.

well, one of my friends is a junior, and she's thinking about college entrance right now. And she told me that you had to do a sport to be able to be admitted into a good college.

But...is that true? She gets really good grades and stuff...and has been playing the cello for a really long time and is really good, and she's in a bunch of orchestras and stuff. I told her that that would be good...but now she's thinking of dropping cello and doing a sport her senior year...

She just kind of seems really sad and stuff, and all because of trying to get into a good college. What should I tell her? Do you really have to do a sport to get into college?

That is not true. Anyone can get into a good college if they have good grades, SATs, extracurrics, essays, etc. Being an athlete helps if she's really good and the best in the state or something and she feels that she can contribute to the school's team. And, I highly doubt that in one year, she would become that good.
