What's your take on outsourcing? Here's a bit of background for those who don't know what it is: http://www.foreignaffairs.org/20040501faes...g-bogeyman.html

Personally, I don't really like it. Up until a few months ago, I wanted to become a computer programmer. But I learned that many of these jobs were being outsourced to other countries. However, it does help american business I guess.

outsourcing is taking advantage of people in other countries..paying them less for sometimes more work than what could be done in America. in countries like India, that small amount of money..weighs more there. it pays for more..

outsourcing helps the economy. sure, maybe it does take away from american jobs..but..in the end, im not against it. huh.gif

In America, our wages depend on the cost of living. Imagine that gas is $10/gallon, do you think that we all must sit still with a minimum wage of $5.15 (in TX)? No. Likewise, it is logical that in countries where the cost of living is much lower than ours, the salary of their working class is less than in the US.

In the international management scheme of things, however, more and more companies are paying their hired local managers more competitive wages than before. Some people say that they are still getting paid less than their expatriate counterparts and that is unfair. NO, it's not. Expatriates must receive compensation for relocating themselves, and sometimes their families to foreign lands, which often are places that have lower standards of living than in the US. They must also be compensated for the risk of not having a position in their company to come back to once their contract is completed. If they are paid the same salary as local managers, what on earth will they live on once they are back in the US? This is a normal occurence.

Outsourcing doesn't take jobs and not replace them, it does. In fact, it creates jobs that require more skills, which means our working class must be more educated, more experienced in their trade. A positive thing for our society, I think.
