I was just wondering...does anyone else think its ridiculous to call it 'turkey day'? why can't we just call it Thanksgiving???

thanksgiving, is a 'christianted' variation of a harvest celebration, found in many pagan religions that chirstianity denounces.
as far as the meaning, let me remind you waht the first thanksgiving was. the pilgrims were starving and eating each other. they stole food from the indians. the indians decided to help them. they were all happy. 20 years later the pilgrims attacked the indians at a truce. i don't care if that meaning gets lost. thanksgiving, is to me, a time to spend with family. it's a prelude to christmas. |
