this is inspired by those times when your ex and you might rekindle that fire you had, but then they pour a bucket of water on it.

Kissing a Ghost
Autumn nights
Brisk with crunching leaves
To think all hallows eve
Would reveal that nothing’s what it seems
As I prepared to face the monsters
I would feel her dark embrace
Feel her cheek against my face
Only to find no one the next day, gone without a trace

And now I find myself
Holding the deceased
As though that fateful night last year
Never took place
And now I find myself
With no one here at all
But kissing the ghost of my love once lost
Kissing the ghost of my love forever lost

She haunts me
In the back of my mind
That touch, once so kind
Now sends shivers up and down my spine
Face my fears
At the rebel’s masquerade
Her ghost began to fade
As I knelt and begged “oh, please don’t go away”

And now I find myself
Holding the deceased
As though that fateful night last year
Never took place
And now I find myself
With no one here at all
But kissing the ghost of my love once lost
Kissing the ghost of my love forever lost
