just recently my friend Bruce asked me out. since i wasn't sure of my feelings toward him, i asked him if i could have time to think about it. he said okay. over the past few days i thought about our friendship. i've liked him on and off and on and off so many times that i was confused, but now i realized that i really do like him and we could really have a good relationship as bf and gf. so i would tell him yes BUT i have a problem. one word: PARENTS

its not that they dont allow me to date. they have no problem about me dating. it's me with the problem. i dont want them to find out that i have a bf. this might sound corny but, the reason i dont want them to find out is because i dont want my parents to be sad that they're letting me go. u know how dads say "oh ur daddy's little girl..."? well i dont want to lose that. if i have a bf, i wont be that "my little girl" image to my dad. i know, i know, im 17 and im not a little girl anymore, but my relationship with my parents is different (in a good way).

plus, they know that if i have a bf, then that means i hug, which leads to kissing, which leads to "total make-out", which leads to (waaaay later on) sex. i know they wont see me as innocent anymore. i dont want to lose that with them.

so my two questions are...
1. should i tell Bruce no because of my parents?
2. can u give me advice on my parent problems? (how to solve it, is it normal?, etc.)

awww his names Bruce, how romantic throb.gif my dad's name's Bruce, not to mention the shark in Finding Nemo wink.gif but more importantly (although I don't see how anything could be more important than that) don't let your parents get in the way of you and Bruce. Or, maybe you could say yes to him but tell him that you arn't ready to tell your parents so he doens't get the wrong idea, or something like that.

Not that I'm a great example. I do not want to date or have a boyfriend because (exactly the same reason) I don't want to tell my parents. Okay okay, so you all say "sooo, just DON'T tell your parents then!" HELLO, I can't do that:

being bf or gf leaads to --> Dating, which leads to...(HINT: having someone to drive you) and because I'm only 15 I cannot (legally that is) drive. Who drives then? one or the others parents. "Okay, so get your bfs parents to drive you" NOT THAT EASY! I still need to make an excuse for where I'm going. in other words lying, which is not my expertise, NOT TO MENTION that the bfs parents would probably not be so pleased with knowing the girlfriend's parents don't even know she's with the bf, or know where she's going etc. In other words, DOESN'T WORK.

But since you are old enough to drive that shouldn't be a problem for you, sooo as I see it, three choices (sure there's millions but I'm trying to narrow it down):

- Say no to Bruce, explain your parent situation, or just say you'd rather be friends. Way to crush the romance.
- Say yes to Bruce and DON'T tell your parents, just hang out at school or date in secret.
- Say yes to Bruce, tell your mom and dad, boom bada bang everythings peachy

flowers.gif good luck
