Well my computer got some major virus' and we had to go to the back up. my dad hadn't saved anything from August onward so it was all lost; including my itunes downloads. Now, my ipod still has it all and I haven't plugged it into the computer because I am scared that I will lose all my other music.

My question, what should I do about this?

yea, there should be some third party softwares to counteract that.

(michael, you know this is a prime example of the deficencies of itunes and of ipod's proprietary system)

Not really. It's an example of why the RIAA's attempt to control music is bad. This example has nothing to do with the iPod's proprietary system, which I agree is bad, but that's not really the culprit here.
